Interesting I have only worked directly for two women.
1st effectively managed me out the door so she could give her mate a job (should have gone for constructive dismissal but I was young n naive) in addtion she was a fooking idiot and on reflection I was not unhappy to go.
2nd Was very nice but to be honest a bit in effective
Note for the point of balance I have also worked for men who have been ineffective but I have never worked for a man who was as vindictive as the 1st woman I worked for.
And at present where I am there is a female exec who I think is actually psychotic - she shows all the signs e.g. very aggressive, does not recognise other human beings as having any value, prone to make up her own reality ( e.g. often 'forgets' things she has said from one week to the next when they do not suit this weeks version of reality)
Have not met a man like that but that may be just good fortune!
I Really don't believe Women are inferior in any way or form but is it not the case that working for a female in IT is a hell of a lot more difficult than working for a male?
Has anybody else had the same issues and understand what the reasons are for it?
Yup, I've definitely found that. The problem is that they tend to be too organised and bossy, more so than the average guy.
Of course that is often a Good Thing, but it can limit scope for personal initiative and thinking outside the box.
Fair point. What about if she's only a crap manager sometimes. Say I dunno, every few weeks seems to have an off day or couple of off days.
Could this be down to gender?
Why is it that you assume the difficulties are because she's a woman, rather than because she's a crap manager?
