They think they can learn inside secrets and then go an trade themselves millions from a couple of grand. But they soon realise you need millions in the first place.

Why is it that quite a few technologists who work for banks deep in their hearts want to become quants, eventually? Anyone care to explain to the uninitiated the nature of the secret attraction?
