Well I bought an Epson V500. It was an easy choice, seeing as this was the only scanner available in any of the shops in my vicinity (Currys, PC world, Maplin, Ryman, Argos).

edit: or not as the case may be - I see Epson's top of the range A4 scanner, the V750 (£600 on that site) still doesn't support USB 3! Guess I'll have to make do with my Epson V700 for a while longer.
