Previously on "So farewell then plucky Australians"
Australia did really well but I think they got as far as they deserved to go. Italians are one of the bigest cheating nations in the game , they are always diving in the penalty area and this world cup is no different.
Other teams are well aware of Italys cheating and dont fall for their scams , Australia just didnt have the experience of world cup to know better.
Both teams didnt look like they could score and when Italy meet Brazil then they will be out.
Against Japan: First team ever to score three goals in the last 10 minutes of a world cup game.
Which would not have happened had Cahill ben sent off for the penalty that never was or even for the foul in the Japanese box.
Brazil: Could've drawn if every 50-50 decision hadn't automatically gone their way.
Tempted to half agree as the refereeing throughout the tournament has been apalling and every decision has semed to go against the 'smaller' teams.r
Croatia: Kewell's goal was offside but plenty had gone against us before that point, including a blatant rugby tackle on Viduka in the penalty box, and the last goal disallowed because it supposedly went over the line a second after the whistle.
Kewell's goal was offside and the goal that never was did go in after the game had finished, ask Brazil about it. Australia can hardly complain about any team being overly-physical against them FFS bull in china shop doesn't even begin to express it.
Italy: Lost to one of the favourites in the last 20 seconds to a blatant dive (but yes the earlier red card was over the top). Our best defender was off suspended courtesy of Mr Poll's brain explosion.
Italy might be seen as the favourites in Milan or Rome but nowhere else. Blatant dive probably, but I don't believe Viduka or Kewell or Aloisi would have done any different.
All in all not a bad effort for our first go since 1974!
I guess they surprised some people, but Hiddink expected to get out of the group so they met their expectations. But I'm still really annoyed at the way they cheated Japan out of the first game (with the massive collusion of yet another hopeless referee).
How unlucky you were that this time you weren't allowed to kick the other team off the park, the referee didn't allow any offside goals to stand, there were only two appalling decisions in your favour and one against. Never mind, there's always the cricket, strewth.
Mwahahahaha.
Right then I'll take the bait.
