I was in the same situation earlier this year. I should have got currency from my local bank or even post office. The rates got progressively worse as I neared my destination.... (Heathrow bad rates, destination airports worse rates). 'Foreign Usage' fees when using cards.

agreed...a couple of hundred is hardly worth sweating over. and you're still able to use your debit card there in a pinch.

Normally I can't be arsed. Unless you've got a massive amount to exchange are you really going to save all that much?

Currency Exchange Question
I have to make an urgent trip to Denmark this weekend and I need to get some foreign currency and am not sure what would be the best route to go.
My gut feeling is that it would be best to shop around and get it from M&S or somewhere like that but having looked into this a bit, it would appear that the best option may be to take a wad of cash and change it over there because even the bank buying rates in Denmark seem to be better than anything I can get by shopping around over here.
Does that sound right or am I having a bit of a blond moment?Tags: None
