I've had to drop ebay, I used to use it extensively to sell, but I got caught out by a few things.
1. Forced to use paypal (e.g some video games listings MUST be paypal)
2. Paypal then give 100% backing to the buyer, as part of its "buyer guarantee"
3. Even if you give the buyer an OPTION of postage, if its not sent "trackable" then paypal will refund the buyer every time.
The same trick caught me twice before I learned about point 3, its in the paypal user agreement - if buyers ask for you to send stuff standard post "to save postage" don't do it. A certificate of postage does not win a paypal case.

Yep, my only 'neg' was from a guy who bought a motorbike for £200. I was honest about condition and problems, and he paid a stupid amount to have it couriered to him (I'd said collection only). Had several bits of correspondence from him - no mention of issues. 60 days later, neg feedback "Not a bit as described". He then sold it (for more money) with exactly the same (copy and pasted) description and photos. His buyer was delighted with it and left him +ve.
Feck all I could do - bloke was a knob, but ebay didn't want to know.

No I think it was down to me trying to auction a date with my good self.Originally posted by TestMangler View PostDid you post a load of tulip on their forums by any chance ??

The bidding got to 2.5 pence before they pulled it, and I think that was down to my mate..
(actually the first line above is true).

I tend to save my feedback up and do it every couple of weeks or whenever I remember. Getting a reminder is OKish even if it might seem like it's a little verging on bad manners but I don't let it stop me from leaving feedback when it's convenient for me rather than them.Originally posted by Platypus View PostIt's ages since I last used eBay to sell and I've heard a few horror stories recently where buyers file bogus claims in an attempt to blackmail a seller into giving a price reduction after the item has been posted and received.
So it seems that a buyer has 45 days to file a claim. A seller has 60 days to post feedback. I've just sold an old iPod for a surprisingly high price and the buyer is already pestering me for feedback, one day after the sale. I'm temped to wait until after 45 days but before 60 to leave my feedback.
If you sell on eBay, what do you do?
