Windows 7 Updates - FFS!
Xcode is dev tho, like a VS download, not ur average punters requirement.Originally posted by Sysman View PostSssshhhhh!
Is this where I mention the size of Xcode downloads?
Linux can offer some quite meaty downloads too.
Having said that, the last AIX TL was like gigs so they're all at it!

Fired it up and it told me that Windows wasn't activated, and Security Essentials will stop running in 30 days.Originally posted by Sysman View PostI had better check the system I haven't fired up since then...
It gave me a link to download and run something called WindowsActivationUpdate.exe
Dunno what that does but it took its time running.
I hadn't changed any hardware, but I had just upgraded VirtualBox Guest Additions to reflect a new version of VirtualBox. Maybe that triggered something.
Dunno what Windows 7 is up to either. It's just spent a quarter of an hour using 18% CPU doing, er, something...
Ho hum.

Patch Tuesday this week, wasn't it?Originally posted by SupremeSpod View PostOk, admittedly I haven't touched this PC for 7 days but WTF?
It's now downloading 218.5 MB of updates.
Christ on a ******* Bike, what is in those damn updates?
I had better check the system I haven't fired up since then...
I did a full reinstall on a laptop yesterday. When I ran Windows Update it told me it was bringing down 96 patches.
I went and did some cooking instead of watching that.

About a dozen as I recall.Originally posted by stek View PostHow many floppies was Windows 3.11 on?
But I might be thinking of my Tosh laptop which didn't come with a separate set of Windows floppies. It was one of those distributions which offered to create a full set of installation floppies the first time you fired it up, so possibly had extra drivers which wouldn't be included in the standard MS distro.

I think Windows for Workgroups was on eight 3.5" 1.44mb floppiesOriginally posted by AtW View PostUmmm, that's a good question - I think 3.1 was on 5-6 x 5.25'' floppies (1.2 MB each).
MS Office 4.2 was on 26 or 32 for the not standard version - forget what it was called....
