You will all be pleased to hear that Dixons, oops sorry "DSG", are now targeting people over 55. By targeting I dont mean "as in Logans Run" but to employ them. This should give you old gits something to do other than reminiscing over TOTP

One for Fleet ... who is the Drummer?
The Thought Police won't let us play videos here, but IIRC, the drummer was Alan White, later of Yes, and the backing group was called "Elephant's Memory".
    Am I right, Sir?

    F in "Memory Man" mode

PS In answer to the original question : the Sweet doing "Ballroom Blitz" in 1973... thus...

    and....

    Are you ready, Steve? Aha.
    Andy? Yeah! Mick? OK.
    Alright, fellas, let's go!

Oh it's been getting so hard
Livin' with the things you do to me, aha
Oh my dreams are getting so strange
I'd like to tell you everything I see
Oh, I see a man at the back
As a matter of fact his eyes are red as the sun
And a girl in the corner let no one ignore her
'Cause she thinks she's the passionate one

Oh, yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving

    Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man at the back said
Everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
    Ballroom blitz

    I'm reaching out for something
Touching nothing's all I ever do
Oh, I softly call you over
When you appear there's nothing left of you, aha
Now the man in the back
Is ready to crack as he raises his hands to the sky
And the girl in the corner is ev'ryone's mourner
She could kill you with a wink of her eye

Oh yeah, it was electric, so frightfully hectic
And the band started leaving, 'cause they all stopped breathing

    Chorus

Oh yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving

    Chorus

    It's it's a ballroom blitz, it's it's a ballroom blitz
    It's it's a ballroom blitz, yeah, it's a ballroom blitz

Back in the sixties Rumour has it that Jimi Hendrix was trying to mime to Purple Haze while an Alan Price record was actually playing.

    Priceless?

Stone Roses playing with Ian brown holding the mic above his head, dancing with his mouth closed clearly not singing yet you could hear him perfectly. I think Liam Gallegher imitated him a few years later. I don't think ToTP were too impressed.

I am right with you Clownio. I recall a group of girls called Fuzzbox (who remembers them?) who came on TOTP with unfeasibly short skirts. Hmmmm... happy memories...

I loved her right up to the point when she raised her arms and showed off the jungle in her armpits.
