I once knew a crazy guy who claimed we were visited regularly by aliens and that they had hidden bases on Earth and they were here because we as organic life possess some very rare genetic / DNA qualities that they were interested in.
I reckon that was baloney because if you can develop technology to travel faster than light you could certainly develop tech to map the DNA of any living organism and build it from raw components so we would not have to be abducted.
