Now that the media have received their orders and a concerted effort is in full swing to reinstate the Tories at the next election, what does this mean for us contractors?
1. Will we be better off financially?
2. What's their policy on IR35?
3. Will the 'poor' become poor again?
4. When is the next election anyway?

1. Unlikely, as the conservatives are not likely to reduce visible taxes as they are associated by both media and electorate as cutting public services. Some stealth taxes may be reduced but the tories have used the argument that we cannot state a tax reduction policy until we know quite how far brown has screwed up the economy (i.e. £20b of PFIs, etc)

2. They were going to abolish it. It was on their manifest and confirmed in email by my MP.

3. When they remove the tax credits shambles and replace it by a flat rate tax system.

4. Surprisingly I think they may pull gordon in and call a snap. The boundaries commission will be insufficient to swing enough in Tories favour but the continual perception of liebour's inefficiencies will be in Cameron's favour the longer the elections are postponed. However, one good thing about the boundaries commission:

Granted, it has yet to print "Vote Tory" on the front page of The Sun, that will happen on election day. But try ringing William Hill and placing a bet on this happening and they'll hang up on you...... IMO
