Honest, if I speak to people now in the UK who have a dialect I have a real problem understanding them. I shall bookmark this one, thanks.
It's just quite funny when you're greeted by a waiter in a smart restaurant who says 'hallo mate, what y'avin to drink?' but that's infinitely preferable to the faux subservience in some other places.Last edited by Mich the Tester; 22 September 2012, 10:44.

Last time I was in Bristol I stayed at the Mercure Brigstow which treated us pretty well. We got one of the executive suites on the top floor with both a balcony and river view (so I could smoke!) plus it had both bath and shower (can't understand hotels with only baths) and was very close to all the decent eateries and pubs in town. Also didn't have to pay as I used my points card

I took Lady Tester to Liverpool for a weekend a few weeks ago; hotels were not too expensive and restaurants very good; friendly service everywhere. She liked it a lot and said 'much better than London'.
We stayed in this place; Liverpool Hotels | Hotels In Liverpool City Centre | Liverpool Hotel | Heywood House not too expensive and really quite pleasant; the restaurant nextdoor does a great breakfast.

Your wife has seen Dodgy Agents treasures? And yet you still want to come to the UK? Do you need to amend the restraining order?

Next time I decide to visit I'll attempt to claim asylum from the mainland as they won't pay my rent or give me enough benefits

So 3 days Prague in a suite in the centre of the city with breakfast (plus free wi-fi and other extras) for only €400 and 3 days Bratislava for €350 with the same set-up as Prague makes it a bit easier to decide, plus no extortionate Chunnel charges either. Why, oh why, is the UK so expensive? And I really fancied going (still the hotel staff in the UK probably come from the same countries I'll be visiting)
