As I say, Vista download is on the link I gave to the Dell Community downloads site. The serial number for the install is on the sticker Dell attach to the laptop, so you should be all set to go now.

As a first step you need to remove the hard disk and put it in a caddy with a USB.
Connect it to an old XP machine.
Open up a command prompt
From the c:\ run chkdsk /r e: (or whatever you caddy drive is)

Anyone got one they could upload the image for me?

I have an Inspiron 1525 I'm trying to re-image but I can't "boot" the recovery partition :-(
