I thought he was referring to me specifically, and I pointed out that I'd made a lot of money at the time of the accident (A LOT of Money)

I thought there was a series of DIY mishaps in the run-up to the hand incident. I'm not re-reading the previous 80000 posts to try and find out what, though.

I just looked at the pics now that I'm not at clientco and I'm sure I remember a worse one, where half your hand was hanging off and there was clear daylight between the two parts?
