Previously on "Anyone got any tips for the Grand National?"
My dad was the fifth son of the fifth son,
The National is the fifth race on the fifth day, horse number 5 has won five times.
my five kids and step kids have each put five quid on him(Calgary bay)
I have put 5,000 to win
It's probably the hardest race to to pick out a winner
Not necessarily true. One of the greatest professional gambler’s Alex Bird, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alex-Bird-Se.../dp/0356125807 considered the grand national to be one of the best betting racing in the calendar.
Granted you need a slice of luck but he argued only a special type of horse can win the national and landed a few big gambles in the race. The main thing to consider is a horse that will last the extreme distance. Even in 2009 Mon Mome’s win at 100/1 wasn’t a total shock as the beast had won a Welsh national. Both my selections have stamina in abundance.
Put a couple of quid on a few of the long odds nags. As good a chance as any.
Also, if backing the long odds horses, use an exchange, far better odds than the bookies.
It's probably the hardest race to to pick out a winner, the millionaire pro gamblers you see propping up the the counter on giro day don't tend to bet big on that race.
