Me: So you won't make a payment unless I send you a bank statement, even though you know the account the payment is to go to.

SmallishCo: We need a bank statement to know that it is your bank account.

Me: I went paperless ages ago.

SmallishCo: (shrugs)

Me: Even BigCo offer 3 or 4 alternatives to an actual hard copy Bank Statement for proof of id
