A 2.2D has got to be a choice from the head, rather than the heart. Presumably it's going to be a Co. car, otherwise you might as well go for an ex-demo 3.0D.

I went through the same dilemma when looking for a Five-series Beemer. Nearly new 2.0D 4 cylinder or slightly older 2.5D 6 cylinder? I wanted an auto too, being old and lazy. A test drive soon confirmed that the 2.0 was too sluggish and that the 6 cylinder sounded much nicer.

I put a Diesel Tuning box on it as well (don't tell the insurance co...) but you could probably do that on a 2.2Jag too.

Whichever, enjoy it but don't park too near the front at ClientCo offices, will you?

The 2.2 is far too heavy IMHO.

My mate bought an XF-S (3.0 twin turbo i think). It's truly fantastic however even with the additional grunt from his sport version, he has said on more than one occasion that he should have put his girlfriend on the game and stretched to the 5.0 litre supercharged engine... but its a sobre executive saloon that is not as brash as some of the toys out there.
