If we are all rich in comparison to other countries doesn't that mean we all go to hell anyway?

Maybe we are in hell , I mean the Underground, getting round London, rain, dealing with Agents etc.

    Exploding Goat

You have me confused with a Pharisee. While I agree with your understanding of the theme of Christ's message I disagree with your application. Christians are commanded to tell the world about the Good News. Christians are assured of a passage to heaven and stating that does not make me arrogant. I cannot agree more about it being hard for the rich to get to heaven. You can see for yourself on this board - people say we are a rich country we do not need God etc etc. It is not being rich per se that makes it hard - it is the attitude of most wealthy people. The "I am alright Jack" mentality. This was what Jesus was referring to. The Bible gives us examples of Godly men and women who were blessed with wealth that none of us will ever know like Job, King David, Solomon, Abraham, Daniel, Gideon etc etc . Being a Christian does not mean having to live like a hermit, no. True riches come from God as the Bible says "For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly" - Psalm 84:11

Or are you banking on the old "Oh sorry, I repent" strategy?

How is it that Christians can say who is going to hell and who is going to heaven. Surely that is a decision only God can make?

    Chapter & verse

    Chico,

You claim that you're on a one way ticket to Heaven.
I seem to recall that somewhere in the NT it says that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go to Heaven.

Now, compare your financial situation with that of an Ethiopian Christian.

Sorry? what was that? Oh yes, "this is a metaphor for the city gate known as the Eye of the Needle because it was so narrow."

Sorry Sunbeam, that's not what JC meant.
What He meant was that weasels like yourself would be denied entry.

I also recall that He didn't have much too good to say about the geezer that stood up in the temple and prayed too loudly.

Being omniscient I think He may well have had you in mind.

If you're the sort of Christian you claim to be then you'll be familiar with the Bible and understand what I mean.

Either way, it looks as if you're going somewhere warm for your afterlife sabbatical.

Or are you banking on the old "Oh sorry, I repent" strategy?

    Re: high horse?

The laws of logic are absolute. Human beings' minds are not absolute. They differ. They disagree. Therefore, what is absolute to one person may or may not be absolute to another. Therefore, they are not the product of human minds
I think you were arguing the opposite a week or two ago

But that was another cut'n paste - sorry, discussion

    oh blessed am I.
    I'm touched chico, truly honoured.
To feel that my contribution is valid.
You don't know how much that means to me.
I shall mention you to the Kitten in my prayers this evening, and I might even sacrifice a mouse in your honour.

    did you mean Matthew 7:21?

21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

I'm not going to quote the New Testament at you Chico, but I’m pretty sure it’s in there somewhere.

No presumption at all - I have the assurance of the word of God. The Bible is quite clear on what you need to do to get to heaven.

But if you don't know what this time space continuum is, how do you know He is outside it. Surley it's not just a made up concept to get round the laws of physics?

P.S The presumption that you will get to heaven is I believe a sin.
