Yup, they've got 48 hours to get out. Norway has apparently also closed it's Embassy in Tehran.

Ok, looks like they got out

Reuters Iranian police have secured the release of six employees of the British embassy compound in northern Tehran who had been taken hostage by hardline students earlier in the day, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

"Police freed the six people working for the British embassy in Qolhak garden," Fars said.

Some mates of my elder brother happened to be in Tehran on the day of he Revolution - far from being revolutionaries they were on the Hippy Trail from Glasgow en route to Kashmir - I recall they mentioned altough it was very noisy - no hame came their way .

They had to concoeal their stash of smuggled whiskey bottles whcih I was told were eventually traded by an obliging hotel porter for some Hash .

They're student protestors. As a barometer of Iranian popular opinion they probably shouldn't be taken any more seriously than one would take the protestors outside St Pauls.
