Questiobn for the Experts: Nokia E5 cannot find network

yes the phone can see wifi networks

but it cannot see the mobile phone network so I cannot make any calls

Have you tried searching for available networks? Should be somewhere in the settings menu. Once the list of available networks is presented have a look for your provider and then try and connect manually.

If this fails then try other providers to see if roaming enables you to connect via them.

Failing that, pay your bill.

Of course it can't see it. Radio waves are invisible!*

Is the SSID hidden?

This. Also can you detect other wifi networks? What happens if you point the thing closer to the router, standing on one leg at full stretch while standing on a chair?

Get an iPhone, crackberry or android and you won't have that problem.
