The thing you have to say when Scots (you don't like) come visiting is "You'll have had your tea then."

I may have to employ said tactic. The in-laws departed this morning leaving the 'practically family' who are here until Sunday. My snooker evening got off to a cracking start when one of them(who the wife had invited) said 'Oh I haven't played Snooker since I was 11'. He then proceeded to gash the baize on his first shot, in the army snooker hall in Aldershot. He then continued to 'Facebook' with his phone pinging 'ghostbusters' every few minutes. We had to tell him to piss off outside as it was a toss up whether I, my mate or a number of soldiers were going to lynch him.

On waking this morning he said 'Oh! Do you still have your grumpy face on this morning?'

Just come home to discover that 8 Glaswegians have descended on my house. What's more they are staying until Sunday. I didn't even get a look in at the prawn crackers at tea.

Now 4 of those are family. The other four are friends of the family or 'practically' family as the wife and inlaws call them.

Bearing in mind I have nothing in common with the 'practically family', this is the third year in a row they have visited increasing the stay each time. I personally think it's odd to visit people in this way, whereas the inlaws are stating that they all do that in Scotland and it's perfectly normal. Two of them have even
tagged on to my weekly snooker evening!!!

Is it normal or are they taking the piss?

Have told the 'family' that I have a Scottish mate in Devon who is 'practically family'. They have informed me that that means he is also 'family'. Shaun what's your address?

This is a slippery slope MF. Getting shot of "practically family" is akin to getting rid of bindweed, particularly the glaswegian variety. If you are not firm it is only a small hop from gatecrashing your snooker evenings to pulling a train on your missus whilst emptying your drinks cabinet.
A friend of mine had to get the Mafia involved in ridding himself of his "practically family", and it involved a fair amount of heavy artillery and the spilling of mucho claret!
