I persist with the QGA with black but am thinking I need to branch out. The safe option would be Slav but perhaps the Benko would be fun.

Have you considered building something like a boat or perhaps a small supercomputer?

After Topalov's persistence with the queens pawn opening in the last world championship I have spent the last 3 months experimenting with it, but it just doesn't excite me. Am going back to the KIA and nimzo-indian defence systems I am more familiar with so enough adventure for me.Originally posted by Old Greg View PostI am considering adopting some more adventurous chess openings if that counts.

Try taking up a musical instrument and join a band full of other 40 year olds who are trying to recapture their youth?

Having kids isn't meaninglessOriginally posted by Old Greg View PostMrs OG is keen to move as well. She only came to the UK for 3 years and has been here now for 17 years. I've been looking into moving somewhere 'exotic', but am having a hard time convincing Mrs LS to do the same. She's very risk averse, and likes the safety and security of predictability and familiarity. Having no children helps from both a financial and mobility perspective though.
Locations we've considered include Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Ecuador, Panama, Argentina. Still a work in progress.....

Learn to fly, buy a wee plane. Doesn't require any strenuous exercise, cheaper to run than a boat, visit lots more exciting places than ports full of the yellow welly brigade.
You could go to Florida and get your license in a couple of weeks but spend some time with an instructor back in blighty to get used to the local area and weather.
