    Nimrod.
Bully's have used it for years to nickname big nosed fellow schoolmates.

Nah some bright spark will suggest cheap disposable planes flown by bobs would be cheaper

We (and the Septics) had the Sherman tank.

The Germans called it the TommyCooker.

Who said they have no sense of humour?

And they'll only give it to the Saudis to bribe them to buy the Next Big Thing.

    Nimrod.

We should call our next weapon system Nimrod, just to use the name.

Maybe we could train underwater sniffer dogs, to look for al quaeda mines attached to the hulls of ships , and call them 'Nimrod dogs'

that would be cool. Mind you, the Brits have always been good at naming things, like we had the Harrier jump jet, the dull yanks had the AV8

we had the Centurion tank, the Indians called it the Mk7

Probably most of it. BAES got badly burned in the past by spending a lot on platform specific development only to have the project cancelled before final purchase, they very sensibly build in exit fees. It's been that way for years and is part of the bid/offer/contract procedure.

MRA4 development and tooling up had taken multiple years with numerous requirement changes from the customer.
