The evidence emerged in a BBC news broadcast which uncovered a potential rodent infestation in the seat of power.
As political correspondent Gary O’Donoghue ran through the day's events, a rat could be clearly seen crossing the doorstep of Number 10.
The Prime Minister's security detail appear to have completely missed the intruder but Mr Cameron can look for advice on dealing with the problem from within his own party.
John Gummer, the former Tory cabinet minister, claimed on his Parliamentary expenses to remove magpies and moles from his Suffolk home and also billed for an annual “rodent service”.
