There are corporate parties in Russia in firms that get rich by selling overpriced fuel to the West and they spend it lavishly on singers who fly over to sing at those private parties - he probably stood to make a few hundred grand for one performance.

Why was he performing in his hotel room?Bobby Farrell, front man of the 1970s disco group Boney M, has died at the age of 61, his agent has announced.
The singer was found dead in a hotel room in St Petersburg, Russia, where he had been performing, John Seine said.
