Out here in the Dominions we got to see it before you.

I say we, I watched it but all the upstart colonials that I spent the day with left the room.

I think she is good value and she commands an awful lot of respect from people around the globe.

On the way to Heathrow when I left London, our taxi took us past Buckingham Palace. As we drove down the Mall I could see that the Union Jack was being lowered and by the time we were right outside the Palace the Royal Standard had been raised in its place. It still warms my heart to know that the Queen was at home for my last ever journey past.

It was a very strange message as she didn't actually say anything. No mention of the Pope, the wedding etc.

Now read carefully your own quote: it clearly says that it was Royal Family (Kings) who put that term in use!

Go back to your turkey paddy - Royal Family and unfortunate lack of condom at the time of your conception are the only reasons you can enjoy it

Shauny - hope that did not sound too harsh for Christmas day

    From Wiki:
    Derivation of "Great"
After the Old English period, Britain was used as a historical term only. Geoffrey of Monmouth in his pseudohistorical Historia Regum Britanniae (c. 1136) refers to the island of Great Britain as Britannia major ("Greater Britain"), to distinguish it from Britannia minor ("Lesser Britain"), the continental region which approximates to modern Brittany. The term "Great Britain" was first used officially in 1474, in the instrument drawing up the proposal for a marriage between Cecily the daughter of Edward IV of England, and James the son of James III of Scotland, which described it as "this Nobill Isle, callit Gret Britanee." It was used again in 1604, when King James VI and I, in a deliberate attempt to impose a term which would unite his double inheritance of the kingdoms of Scotland and England, proclaimed his assumption of the throne in the style "King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland

Utter SH1T, France does not have a monarchy, tourists still go there including visiting Versailles.

The Royal Family got rich by taxation, murder and steeling land from the poor. They should give it back.

Six millions were killed in WW1 due to the British Royal Family who were actually Germans having an argument with their German Cousin over carving up the Empires.
