In a place not far from here,
there lives a creature who's ever so queer.
Not quite a rabbit, not quite a mouse.
This creature does nothing but grouse and grouse.
He hates all things cute and cuddly too,
And lives by himself in a mouldy old shoe.
He has no friends and is always alone.
His Christmas dinner is a rancid old bone.
Not much prospect for this terrible thing,
Santa has no presents for him to bring,
So how did this animal become so estranged?
How could anything be so deranged?
Well pull up a pew and let me divulge,
The story this Christmas that must be told,
So pin back your ears and listen good,
As I impart the story of the Hooded Snood.
The Hooded Snood was born around here,
And used to love this time of year.
He was a good little critter who everyone loved,
With a good track record as white as a dove.
Then one day when his parents said no,
to his requests to go out in the snow,
He got really cross and didn't listen to reason.
And forever and ever he hated this season.
Santa caught wind of his temperish ways,
Just as he was loading the back of his sleigh.
The naughty list beckoned for this chirlish child,
Unless he returned to being well mannered and mild.
The Hooded Snood was not changing his stance,
And gave his parents the haughtiest glance.
They warned him that his presents would stop,
If he did not atone for his previous strop.
That year santa brought presents for everyone else,
But he received nothing, and thought to himself.
I don't need anything I'm fine on my own,
So one night he left to go it alone.
So this Christmas the Hooded Snood is sitting at home,
No one visits, he is all alone.
And thoroughly miserable he sits there and muses,
If only he didn't strop off when his parents refuses.
He sat there and thought for a few hours more,
And then set off right out of the door.
I'm being silly I shouldn't be gruff.
Of all this solitude I've had enough.
He walked the two miles to his parents house,
And did not grouse and grouse.
He hope his parents would be ok,
And accepted he'd changed his ways.
When he got there they were overjoyed,
To see their darling hairy boy.
And quick as a flash they set him a place.
The pride of the table, no longer a disgrace.
He opened his presents with patience and care,
And offered his Quality Street around to share.
It was as if he'd never been gone.
His parents looked on and their faces shone.
So if you're still listening to this Christmas ditty,
To disobey your parents is really ….er not very good.
So remember the story of the Hooded Snood.
And do as your parents tell you you should.
I've checked with Santa and all is ok,
He has all your presents in the back of his sleigh.
You should get to bed early and sound sleep is the call,
So Merry Christmas everybody, and best wishes to all.
