Can't beat The Snowman for a perfect Christmas short film. I kinda like just about any version of A Christmas Carol.

Citizen Kane is worth the effort, especially since it makes an excellent Colombo episode worth watching.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostI've never seen it. I assume it's like Citizen Kane, or The Seventh Seal: films that when you do see leave you scratching your head wondering what the fuss was about.
It's a Wonderful Life: bedwetter's existence makes a minor effect on an insignificant town; contrived suicide prevented by a ghost; town all decide bedwetter is a national hero and holds a ticker-tape parade for him.

For me, it is slow, tedious, artificially sentimental bollocks.

IMDB has been going for 70 years! Wow!Originally posted by minestrone View PostYup, that internet hype has been going on for nearly 70 years.
That film was a box office flop, made a loss, and got no awards, BTW. Its success is a modern phenomenon. It is the Merkin Christmas Carol, but without the good writing, plot, characterisation or script.
It is a silly film, with a contrived plot, a silly premise and a childish ending.
The Snow Goose is a far, far better example of the genre. But that was a British film, so does not count on IMDB.

Gets 8.7 on IMDB. That must land it in the top 10 films of all time on the site.
