Previously on "Contracting in Norway - what rate?"
Lived in Bergen for over a year PM me if you need specific details.
It's really is not that anymore expensive than people make out. Petrol was cheaper than the UK. Eating/drinking out is expensive, hence you don't seen English town centres scenes every night.
The standard of living/public services is the best I've seen anywhere, I'd pay the extra tax if I thought we'd receive the same level of service on our own country.
When I was out there £1 = 10 Nok, I see that it's still the same more or less.
Thanks - that is a useful site and more or less confirmed what I had been told. Yes, it is ruddy expensive. The Krona is so strong at the moment but still the prices are ridiculous - you would have to earn twice your UK rate just to more or less break even.
I have had a few calls about some interesting contracts in Norway and in Sweden in the last couple of weeks - seems a lot going on in Norway.
Does anyone have any experience of contracting out there, how much it costs to live, etc, etc?
I hear that Norway is very expensive and the Krona is very high to the Pound. The sort of roles I do in the UK are offering 400 to 500 per day at the moment so how much more would you have to charge to make Norway cost-effective to go?
