Giant rock bands don't get a look in in terms of airplay and the media because it's dominated by this tulipe. All the bands on x Factor are Boyzone/Girls Aloud clones. Young kids who can be told what to do, how to act who can sing and dance. Where are the bands who play instruments? No instead lets get them to sing to some generic pop tosh and dance about like a bunch of *******. So long as their fame lasts until the start of the next series then everything is good. I watch the x factor, but stop once they have stopped showing the useless pillocks who audition at the start.

Personally I think talent would surface under normal circumstances. The x Factor is the dragnet approach where kids are harvested, used and forgotten about. But this stops proper bands making it big over here. As Daltry said, bands like the beatles, the Stones and add to that Oasis and Blur would never have made it because they don't fit in with the format. Could you imagine the Happy Mondays on here?

In the States there are a number of big rock bands who do very well. Bands like Three Doors Down or Shinedown play big venues over there - here I saw Three Doors Down at the Academy in Manchester. A tiny venue and one so small that it essentailly makes touring unprofitable - this is largely to do with the fact that they have radio stations themed around the music type. Instead in the UK we have radio stations who are all clones of each other that are all dominated by formula pop acts. tulip FM

Pete Doherty was among those previously named on the line-up who did not turn up.
Genius! He's still a poet at heart.

If elitist snobbery = wanting more quality material in pop culture instead of the usual banal dross, then count me in old chap! Tally Ho.

Once you have seen the Peter Kay piss-take, it all starts to make sense. Of course it's trash and churns a few people through the mill but the finalists go off on a big tour and will get a decent whack for a while.
After that, the odd cruise, panto or other gig (Stacy Solomon in the jungle) might pop up. It all beats working on the checkout. Of course, obscurity beckons for virtually every one of them but they get a day in the sun on the way, which is more than most people get.

    I agree with Roger Daltry

"We really need to break away from The X Factor and American Idol - that Simon Cowell thing,’ said Daltry. ‘I really think the music industry will beat this slump and come back stronger.

‘Groups like The Who, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles wouldn't have made it past the audition stage, let alone be shown on TV. That's the joke of it.

‘The music they make on the shows is absolute tripe. He's made a good industry out of it, but it's belittled the power of music. He wouldn't know what the ‘X Factor’ was if it bit him on the b******s."

The groups are simply boy bands, and this years one has simply been made up from the hopefulls who auditioned. The change the rules at the drop of a hat so that certain contestants can get through. They are simply good kareokee singers and ultimately the only person who wins is Cowell. Also, why is everybody so keen on Cheryl Cole. She sounds as thick as pigtulip as soon as she speaks. Ok she is quite good looking, but there are better out there!

Yeah, I totally agree with you.

Heap of pretentious crud. Load of has-beens or never-beens trying to be.
