This is what I gather from reading the entire thread :
Sooner or later, most of the IT bits will be hosted in cloud. Management will soon realise, it is not financially smart to employ full time people, rather, just keep a number of a contractor, who can come to the site or work remotely and do the configurations. If you have a major project, the contract lasts for few months and not days.
Good times are coming for those who are ready to accept these changes. Get "Cloud" in your CV before it is too late.
