Don't be an idiot - you need to factor in extra tax via corruption, and also income tax rate you quote is all nice but there is very high NI rate on businesses.

Russia's has got huge debt hidden by loans made to Govt owned companies, it is basically off the books but it is still guaranteed by the Govt.

workopolis.com is the canadian version of jobserve. seems there's plenty of work around as commodities aren't in the doldrums. be ready to move home when that time comes again.

I must admit that Canada sounds appealing. Anyone ever gone there to work without taking a snooping holiday first?

Yeah still kicking myself for not taking the job offer I had in San Fran waaay back when. A small startup which was eventually taken over by Oracle. And I had myself ready to move to Oz, but then backed out. Now I'm too old to go there.

Suppose its back to Canada for me. Been definitely thinking of going back for a year now. Wife is very keen.

Greenland might be a good bet. They're crying out for immigrants.

I imagine one could afford a large estate which, if there's anything in this climate change theory, could become more productive before long, and it's only a fairly short hop to the US.

Also, seriously, if World War 3 does break out in a few years and nukes start being lobbed around, Greenland would probably be one of the safer areas.

I've worked in most European countries as well as the US and Canada in the past, Canada would be first choice with perhaps Germany if I moved to Europe.

It is madness, but that's what happens when you income streams from 3 different countries at the same time. Those one contracts/ors at a time don't know you're born!

    Good all year round climate
Service is superb, the streets, public areas, shops are cleaned all day - possibly why so little unemployment
