Can't be as bad as when Peter Jay was the BBC's front man on economics in the 80's. No matter what the figure was he would find some way of putting it in a bad way. e.g. below long term trend, poor in comparison to country X, etc, etc.

Was he biased against the Conservatives? What on Earth would make anyone think that .......

The poor old BBC

The Beeb are desperately spinning the 0.8% growth figures as bad news.

Currently talking to some northerners who are grumbling in unintelligible accents that things are worse "ooop north" and that the unexpectedly strong growth is a London/SE phenomenon.

At least the Guardian has a few more hours to get the spin right before going to press.
