The great thing about Duke Nukem 3D was that if you were crap, and couldn't shoot straight (i.e. me), it was still really easy to kill things. Then along came "serious" games like Quake that made you be accurate, and that meant you had to be good to enjoy it.

I used to play Counter Strike online, but even when I was supremely clever in sneaking up on the enemy, half the time they'd still turn round and kill me with one shot whilst I was still spraying bullets all over the place cursing my lack of skill.

Costs more than PS3 itself but worth it

I used to love the old Command and Conquer, i was really good at it, but it was a bugger getting someone to play it online.
So this Duke Nukem fan agreed that if I played Duke, he would give me a game of C&C.

The C&C went ok , a pretty close game, but at the DN , I was total sh1te. didnt give him a game at all.
There was me armed with a chain gun and rocket launcher. He stepped out into the street, dropped all his weapons, leaped down the street, ran up the wall, jumped over my head and kicked me to death with his hob nailed boots.

    time and time again

That was probably Duke Nukem 3D. This is #4. The developers, 3D Realms, basically arsed around for 10 years, never making any realease, until the money ran out and they went bust. Now somebody else has taken it and finished it.

Is there a name for the software methodology that means you never have to release anything?

Vapourware? I'm sure I remember playing Duke Nukem in the early '90s.

Or are they talking about a new release a-la Return to Castle Wolfenstein ?

(Memo to self - Must re-order that, after finding my DVD case of it was empty, with no sign of the disk - I suspect a friend walked off with it in their laptop. )
