Space station astronauts arrive and depart via three-person Russian Soyuz spacecraft. One of these remains at the station at all times, specifically as an escape pod.Originally posted by doodab View PostDon't they have a soyuz thing as an emergency escape vehicle?
Since there are only three astronauts on the space station at any given time, all three could evacuate via a Soyuz craft, even without a visiting space shuttle.
So you can all sleep well tonight.
PS for thoese who dont know - these Soyuz sapcecraft are pretty tiny and cramped (Ive been inside a mockup Soyuz)
