It was a huge shock result. The equivalent of when England were beaten by the US. The previous time England played Norway (at Wembley), Norway were thrashed 4-0, and had never beaten England ever, their history of results being 6-0, 4-0, 4-1 and 6-1, all in England's favour.
When I lived in Norway in the mid-90s, it was still talked about and people fondly remembered what was a night of legendary partying. Most people felt it was the best night in Norway since the end of WWII. They are fanatical about football and most support English clubs. In fact, it is one of few places where you can get live premier games on the telly on Saturday for free (courtesy of state broadcaster NRK). You are almost right. He started with Maggie Thatcher, but then continued listing all the famous English people from history that he could think of, before saying "your boys took a hell of a beating".Originally posted by wooI've got no idea what's got to do with the french.
