It was a huge shock result. The equivalent of when England were beaten by the US. The previous time England played Norway (at Wembley), Norway were thrashed 4-0, and had never beaten England ever, their history of results being 6-0, 4-0, 4-1 and 6-1, all in England's favour.

When I lived in Norway in the mid-90s, it was still talked about and people fondly remembered what was a night of legendary partying.
