There is one outside the office ( mind you they have completely trimmed the bugger now) but for the last few years I had a gret time. They ripen by about August time. Squirrels and birds have the first option on them. Just press them lightly and if they are soft they are ripe. Delicious !!

Grill them with honey and serve with goats cheese.

Looks like I'll be buying them in the shops again this year

Mind you I suppose buying a fig tree might help.

It would seem a tad optimistic.

Looked on the way home last night & there seem to be a fair few on that tree.

It's up against a wall & south facing so maybe in with a chance.

I spotted more figs on the tree outside this building yesterday.

It ain't my fig tree.

And it's got loads of figs on it.

They're green & I don't know how to tell if they're ripe or not.

According to one site, it's when the "eye" opens & a little drop of sugar appears.

Since I walk past it every day, I shall keep an out.

They're ripe when they've turned brownish purple. Or indeed purplish brown. Green figs are not ripe.

Strange, was thinking the same last night. I have two trees but they are not producing figs. The leaves are really good looking and seem to be self cleaning.

Depends on whether the birds haven't eaten the budding fruits. (as the blighters have on mine).

You should have something late august.
