Yikes... mind you, we did 3 bottles of pink on Saturday afternoon, when I say we I really mean me, he was on beer although, he might have had one glass of wine...

    Stinking hangover, first thing yesterday.

Mind you, I wouldn't want to accuse the OP of drinking Rosé
    Pink is good

Yes, and because I'm type II diabetic I get regular checks. If I've been boozing heavily for a few days it shows up on liver tests but two weeks abstinence gets the numbers back to normal.

My biggest worry is the calorie intake from beer and wine as I need to lose weight and this will be a constant battle I suppose as I like good food too much as well.

Wow. Some of you guys are extremely heavy drinkers.

I've got a bit of a reputation for being a big drinker on nights out amongst my mates but a heavy, heavy session for me is 8-9 pints. That gives me blackouts and a 2 day hangover... so I try and go easy on those.

Are you not worried you'll do yourself some serious danger?

Yes, sadly knew a few people that found that too much of a crutch.

Smoked a bit of cannabis in the younger, halcyon days but it was all rubbishy resin. Then got hold of some super skunk - frack me, that stuff could make an entire conversation stop for an hour in Amsterdam in the rain. That stuff made my brain numb.

Hey, forget the alcohol abuse I mentioned earlier, it was probably that bloody super skunk that did it.

As they said at the cafe when we asked for something strong, but not too strong: "Hey, in Amshterdarm, ev'ry thing ish strowng". They weren't fracking joking either... christ, I can even remember ordering a kebab and the owner pulls out a plastic tub of the evenings cold, "elephant leg" droppings and shoving it in between wet kebab bread...uuurgh...

Ther were 5 cans of kronenburg in the fridge which I polished of doing the gardening in the early afternoon, went out for 3 pints and picked up a crate of DAB to watch the football with. There are about 5 left. That is more than usual, good weather and CL final were always going to mean plenty beer.

Used to do a silly amount of drugs, massive binges, wince when I look back at the levels of abuse. Some of my friends have real issues now with the cocaine, not for me anymore.

As I was waiting in the supermarket checkout queue tonight, I was eyeing up the drinks aisle, weighing up whether to swap my place in the queue for a bottle or two of Stella. Nah, alcohol is too expensive. I've been off it for years, but never did enjoy it to excess. A nice cold bottle of beer is nice though. Queue place won. Still fancy a cold beer though.

When I was touring with bands I got through some serious amounts of booze. Pints in double figures followed with whisky by the bottle. Never did drugs though and was never tempted. I did get hangovers in those days that seemed terminal but survived.
