    Key points from the bill:

" * the creation of a new watchdog agency
    * restraints on larger banks, allowing them to take fewer risks
    * requiring borrowers to prove that they can pay back even the most basic of mortgages
    * giving the Federal Reserve the power to take control of large firms at risk of collapse - and break them up if necessary
    * reform of the complicated derivatives market."

    Massive "reform"

Traders are known to have trigger points and when that gets hit during a crash, their computer algorithms start selling out.

FTSE has been bouncing off 5K since yesterday but I think it was a bit too much for the plunge protection team to handle.

Black-Scholes, ah yes, when I first saw that I muttered: that's the old Bronzin dusted off, didn't work then, won't work now, but there's good money to be made coding it up.

Yes, of course you are right. Also when the FTSE line zig zags up and down is also a good measure of volatility. This time around, as in 2008, market confidence and liquidity are low so things tend to jump around quite a bit. Good news for those with short straddles, and of course the dirty spekulants.
