    There are no porters these days and station staff are forbidden to lift cases etc. I have helped a number of frail and disabled passengers with luggage when station staff have refused to do so.

    When I meet someone at the station I have to do so outside the barrier rather than on the platform. When I see passengers off, I'm not able to help them with heavy luggage beyond the barrier.

    When I visit the station to make inquiries or to purchase advance tickets I'm unable to visit the toilets, which are all on the platforms and the pedestrian shortcut over the station footbridge is longer available.

    All these restrictions would be removed at a stroke if platform tickets could be reintroduced.
    A modestly priced platform ticket would also generate income, as well as goodwill. A re-think is urgently required.
