I managed an off-shore not out-sourced dev team for 2.5 years, and personally found them to be totally lacking in any sort of innovative or pre-emptive thought.

Spec and functional detail coming out of their ears and they just can't think outside the box.

Any minor issues came back to the UK for further changes and more sign-off.

Give them some ability to fix a minor issue, correct a small omission from the spec and they would have been more useful, even if they would accept verbal clearance to do it.

Its just all ass covering and ducking any responsibility whatsoever.

Did you not mean "Can remove the last remaining cost. No Tick" ?

You have to be acurate and precise for the devs

Does a project also have revenues? If so, do the same tests on those. If you can remove the last revenue, but not the last cost, then you could try setting up a revenue (without setting up a cost) then removing the project altogether; this could really fook up the books.

Nope, that all works. You cannot close a project with outstanding cost and revenue.

I interpreted it this way; he raises the issue because he can’t remove the last cost but needs to be able to do so. I think you’re interpreting that he doesn’t want to be able to remove the last cost. One of us may be less wrong than the other. Maybe SY01 will enlighten us.

- offshore developers delivered on time and cost.
- onshore manager failed to spec correctly.

A good case for offshoring!
