    If possible do not even give the names of referees until after the first interview.

  • Providing references for EU positions and referee call volume.

    Applying to positions abroad makes references provision genuinely necessary.

    I have been in touch with an agency in the Netherlands and they like me for their client there. Have not been interviewed by the client yet.

    I am worried about overloading my referees with agent calls. In a given month I can be in touch with 10s of EU/UK agents .... Until an actual contract is secured this could result in lots of agents calling my referees. It may soon become uneasy to ask people to take calls over and over again.

    I am thinking to include a note asking the agent not to call my referees before the client' had confirmed interest in me through first interview at least. Would that sound alright ?
