Shouldn't have gone to SpecSavers mate

I went to vision express for my current pair. They were stupidly expensive, about 300 all in, but I needed them quickly as I'd lost my last pair on a ride at Thorpe Park - driving back that night was fun in my sun glasses. But I took out the insurance and I plan to what I did last time. When they get old and dated I'll 'sit on them' and then have them give me a new pair! So 300 suddenly is 150!

It's all just a con though. 10p worth of wire and the same in glass - that will be 100 pounds! When I went to spec savers sometime before, the guy doing the test told me he was self employed also but has to be to work there - yet they supply all his kit/customers/offices and dictate who he sees, when and how - so I reported the fecker to the IR. Well I think it was them but I couldn't really tell because of my new tulipty bins!

Cheers TW. Tried accessing the Wiki site but my PC is a bit temperemental where Wikipedia is concerned for some reason. Anyway, gleaned enough from what you explained earlier. Thanks again.

Yep, 6.6 mmol/l. GP told me 7.0 is the threshold for being diagnosed as diabetic.

I feel foolish for getting ripped off.

For my occasional glasses usage I recommend glassesdirect.co.uk - you'll save a packet.

Pretty much spot on..............approaching 52 as it happens.
I wouldn't complain, but at my age leching is a significant hobby, so anything that interferes with that pastime ought to be attended to.
On the up side, I am finding that the proportion of females in the population that is actually worth "vetting" is rising exponentially though!

    L +1 -0.25 100.0 +2 +1.25

    Whatever the fook that means!
Was thinking of getting some cheapo ones off the net, but have now resolved to head to Boots instead. Any other recommendations from the bespectacled ones on here would be much appreciated.

I have some astigmatism in one eye which makes contacts difficult (you need some special lens type which can't rotate). I tried contacts once for a week and simply hated them. The astigmatism, so I've been told, also makes Laser surgery not an option. IIRC my prescription isn't strong, I think it's the astigmatism that's the real issue.

Thanks for all replies. I'm resolved to see (1) Boots, and (2) An independent, so I can compare and contrast, then get some new specs. Cost is not a factor when it comes to my eyes.

    Vision Express. Can't fault them.

And you get to sit in a darkened room with a fit optometrist inside your personal space.
