I've got some shoulder pain that's been hanging around for months, however on reflection I'll pass on the wiring myself to the mains solution for now.

I did a really stupid thing some years ago, I though I had isolated the mains power from the shower but I had not (bad point 1). Standing on a wet floor (bad point 2) and with both hands (bad point 3) I touched the live wire. The outcome was that it permanently cured by re-occurring shoulder pain.

Good shout, will check the mains power. Current unit is a bit feeble so want to upgrade power wise but there maybe a more powerful version with the same footprint which should help.

When the heating coil went open circuit on mine it cut off the power flow so shut down the water flow valve, pretty naff design if I think about it.Originally posted by lukemg View PostCheers Tyke, just with it going off so suddenly as opposed to just running coldmaybe points to power/fuse failure. Will take a look, not too keen on doing a new unit install myself but will be doing a bit more research this time.
One obvious thing to check (I should have said it earlier, sorry) is the mains voltage at the input, it's possible that even if your mains fuse/breaker is intact that the cabling has gone, it's worth a quick check if you've got a voltmeter.

Leccy showers are not very economically servicable and sounds like the heater has gone in your case. What I did once was to buy the exact same shower again which made fitting it a doddle, even I managed it with just a dirty old adjustable wrench in my hand (not wench).

That's the one I'm looking at, but I need to check that the cable will fit - it's larger than standard size ...Originally posted by Flubster View PostHad a Mira Sport Max fitted 2 years ago. Bloody good unit for the money.

Was his todger a bad boy, then? I can just imagine it: "bad todger! bad todger"Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostI don’t find this particularly Wilmslowesque. At least, not unless the hot water scolded your todger causing you to slip and break your toe while cutting your finger open on the shower curtain rail.

Had a Mira Sport Max fitted 2 years ago. Bloody good unit for the money.Originally posted by 51st State View PostOne of mine has just gone bump as well! As we don't tend to use this particular shower room often (just when we have a houseful) we'll replace it with another electric (as it's nice to have a mix of electric/GCH-powered showers, just in case).
I'm looking at the Mira Sport range - I think they start at around £200.
EDIT - I've just re-read that and realised both how old, and middle-class I sound ...

Had a similar scenario several years ago and, as has already been said, the unit had died.
Ditch and get another one - B&Q have a 20% off £50+ spend this weekend.

Existing unit was 150 fitted, suspect heat/flow issue may therefore be the result of me buying cheap, will correct that this time...
