Much easier to get is the CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) which only needs 1,500 hours of experience, but nobody recognises it as worthwhile.
A nice easy one, if that's what you want, is the APM's Introductory Certificate.
But again, it is PMBoK-based which is little used in the UK IT industry. Outside Defence working for American companies, anyway.

For each of the items in blue, you have to enter how many hours you spent on the subtasks within that item. For example:To become eligible, you are required to meet the following requirements:
Project Management Experience
You are required to document experience you've accrued leading and directing projects under general supervision within the constraints of schedule, budget and scope. The project management experience being documented should indicate you can appropriately apply a methodology to projects that have reasonable well-defined project requirements and deliverables.
* Minimum of 7500 hours of project management experience.
* Project management experience dating back at least three years from application submittal date.
* Project management experience not dating back further than eight years from the application submittal date.
* Minimum of 60 months of project management experience (gaps in experience and overlapping experience will not be counted).
* Project management experience is required in each of the following process areas when all projects are totaled, but not on each project:
o Initiating
o Planning
o Executing
o Monitoring and Controlling
o Closing
Project Management Education
Minimum of 35 contact hours of formal education in project management (one contact hour is equivalent to one actual hour of training or instruction received). There is no timeframe associated with this requirement, therefore, candidates can document all project management education, regardless of when it was accrued. However, the coursework must be complete at the time of application.
And you have to do that for every project you have run for the past 8 years.Initiating Process
Please enter the number of hours spent on each of these tasks for this project.
o Conduct project selection methods to evaluate the feasibility of new products or services
o Identify key stakeholders and perform analysis to gain buy-in and requirements for the success of the project.
o Define the scope of the project based on the organization need to meet the customer project expectations.
o Develop the project charter and review it with key stakeholders to confirm project scope, risks, issues, assumptions and constraints as well as obtain project charter approval from the project sponsor.
o Identify and document high level risks, assumptions and constraints using historical data and expert judgement.

I did suggest to them they should do a "You have only one month left before your money runs out" email. But their response was "You're supposed to be a project manager, limey, so sort yourself out. And, by the way, we're a capitalist organisation and we don't like you pinko socialists anyway". Or words to that effect.Originally posted by suityou01 View PostSounds crap.

Sounds crap. What quals do you recommend?Originally posted by RichardCranium View PostI entered the ridiculous amount of data they wanted on their web site (a project in itself) and paid the fees ...

I lost interest in it too.
Gits.
