If your car is better than the MD's, then questions will be asked about your rate and just how much you are costing the company.

I rather not have a car if it means owning a nissan.
My heart is set on the Vantage. It's only for recreational use I don't really need a car you see...

Yes and no. My 1st house now a BTL - paid off - the one I stay in still £££ to go. But I hate hate hate saving for a rainy day. If there's one thing 10 years of Labour has taught me "Things can only get worse"Last edited by scooterscot; 18 February 2010, 16:38.

Unless you are doing 20K+ miles a year, the amount you save on a diesel versus a petrol is not that much.Originally posted by Spacecadet View PostProblem with the older japs is that there are no decent diesels on the market.
2nd hand diesel cars cost more to buy.
Diesel is more expensive at the pumps.
Servicing a diesel costs more at a garage.
A 1.4 or 1.6L petrol car on a run will do about 35 MPG and diesel about 50 MPG.

Scooter, have you paid off your mortgage?Originally posted by scooterscot View PostA serious question I've been pondering these past couple of weeks.
A: 1 year old 5L XK-RS Jaguar
B: 3 year old V8 Vantage Aston
Both can be got for around the same price (£45K)
No matter how I look at it the Vantage calls...

Oh sorry, you said reliable. Well, I've had a 166 and it wasn't bad at all really, except for the puddle in the rear foot well. Damn nice car.
(ETA: I know, not that particular one)

They are - strange isn't it?Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostNot really, I need cheap and reliable with 4 doors and a reasonable boot. A focus may suit me better but they are inexplicably more expensive, must be more in demand.

I'd also look at a baby 4x4 - our Rav4 is awesome on the motorway and has a massive luggage capacity.
