Usual problem is being squeezed between wanting/needing to leave later and wanting to arrive earlier. Maybe it's not my flights but my life that I need to adjust?

I finally decided to go with Easyjet and a stopover in Gatwick. Haven't had to fly with them for a while now. Alas, their charges are worse. £3.50 booking fee, plus a credit card fee of £4.50 for Visa credit card. £8 per booking. Tsk.
So on Sunday I fly from Luton to Edinburgh. One booking.
On Monday I fly from Edinburgh to Gatwick. Second booking.
On Tuesday I fly from Gatwick to Köln. Third booking.
I eschewed the extra costs for baggage, "speedy" boarding, insurance, hotels, car hire...
