You have to change your profile so that people can see if you have looked at their profile and that is the only way that you can see who has viewed yours without having to pay.

I have started getting involved in group discussions, some are interesting and some not.

I met someone in Australia who's job it was to train Bank HR Departments in using Google to search for Linked In Profiles as a means of headhunting employees from rival Banks. I didn't realise Linked In CVs were searchable via Google and that someone can get paid a serious wad of cash writing up Google search strings. I am in the wrong line of business.

A google search for a certain well regarded enterprise application combined with the database technology which I specialise in returns my linkedin profile on the first page of results.
It used to be top but I seem to have slipped down the rankings!

However work has come in via group discussions i.e. and spookily an e-mail some while ago "Scooter we've been observing you the past few months and like what you said on such and such we were wondering...."

Peeps in certain investigative roles have odd profiles, so people can't work out who it is looking at their details.

Although one tries to get them to use a profile that doesn't make them stick out like a sore thumb, it is nearly impossible to get low level grunts to understand this stuff.
