    ....would be to get CCTV in all abattoirs & impose draconian penalties on anyone flouting the welfare rules; these articles crop up periodically every once in a while but nothing ever seems to get done as a result:

    I guess that the people who work in these places become desensitised & are more worried about getting their bonuses than the welfare of the animals.

    This one's even worse in that the surveillance was carried out in a Soil Association approved abbatoir. Not going to
    enjoy that outdoor reared pork chop I've got in my fridge so much now.
