It's possible, but it is necessary to WANT deflating the baloon in the first place: hands up who wants value of his house to drop 50%+ to reach anything near fair value (tm)?

I think the present case is not of people consistently trying to spend more than they earn, but rather of people finding out that even if you were prepared to downsize the accommodation to suit the downsized income, 2009 was hell and gone from being a good time to sell up. Better to hang on to the house for the recovery, at any price.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostAnyone who spends more than they earn should be in deep trouble. If you put a bit of Sellotape on a balloon you can pierce it with a pin and it goes down slowly.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostHas anyone ever found a way of gently deflating a bubble?
Maybe there's a way with bubbles, and economies.

Even if they did it would still come off as a cash advance.Originally posted by Scary View PostDon't they take credit card payment?
I once found this out when I accidently bought some foreign currency at gatwick with my credit instead of debit card. Didn't notice until I got the bill.

Cash advance charges would surely more than offset any benefits.Originally posted by Scary View Post

ETA: seems like a good idea if you can put mortgage payments through the CC (provided you pay the balance off each month) gaining up to 1 month's free interest on the money plus any points, air miles etc.

Are you kidding? For starters it would mean that some sections of the GW Lobby would need to find some other malleable drone to cook the books for them stat wise.Originally posted by AtW View PostNothing would change if you became unemployed...
And it could mean no more posting on here for sg. Now I know this particular Village has no shortage of idiots, but he really is the Jewel in the Crown.
