I see what you mean. I had a look on Autotrader and the Z3s are from £2,500; there is one Z1 1990 and that is £24,500, a much better investment.

I used to have a Z1. Bought used in 1990 for £18k in Germany and sold it for £25 at the end of the summer. What amazed me was the reaction of girls, all of a sudden I was popular, certainly not the same as driving around in the Ford Escort.
You could drive around with the doors open on the Z1 a feature that BMW did not continue with on the later models.
